Participants must submit the application form on the Competition website by no later than 5th October
Workshop - October 6th 2018
Event will take place in the Hout Bay House, show house and research project promoting modern sustainable timber constructions. Detailed program including profiles of speakers will be announced in September. All presentations and posters will be online after the workshop. The Workshop will carry a 0.25 CPD point.
Concept & story - January 15th 2019
Basic drawing of John and Amy’s future home and narrative explaining why you have chosen this design, how you see John and Amy’s family and where would you place their house. The concept should be sent in a picture format which can be printed on A3 format (horizontally), the narrative in text format – both before January 15th to firstname.lastname@example.org
Wood Conference 2019 - February 26th 2019
In the Wood conference in Cape Town the concepts and narratives will be introduced on exhibition panels together with a photo and a short profile of the author. The authors are welcome to be present at the stand and explain their concept to the visitors. At the wood conference we will also promote competition’s Facebook page and how to vote for most popular project on Facebook.
Project & Presentation - April 2019
The final project which will be evaluated by the Jury consists of the parts: (a) floor plan with specified room sizes and wall lengths (incl. list of windows with dimensions) and virtual model of the house and (b) presentation in electronical form (can video, presentation, poster or any other form, which can be shared online and loaded on a homepage) introducing the house to John and Amy incl. arguments why they should choose your project as the best home for their family.
Announcing of Winners - June 2019
The international Jury will choose the winner of the competition and also announce the 2nd and 3rd place winners, the followers on Facebook will decide about the most popular project, which will be announced together with the winners chosen by the Jury in June 2018 (exact date will be announced at the end of April).
Internship in Europe - July/August 2019
Internship in Europe is planned for July/August 2019 and can be eventually postponed according to agreement with the winner. The schedule will cover one week, during this time the accommodation and transports will be covered by the competition team, in case the winner would like to stay longer, the flight ticket can be bought according to the winner’s plans.
The jury will be made up of a group of architects and professionals with experience in the world of timber constructions. The final composition of this Jury will be published in this same section later.
